If you’ve been following all things Nintendo throughout 2022, then the concept of ‘a Nintendo Direct definitely will happen next month’ will not be new to you. However, Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb’s latest rumor might be the most likely prediction we’ve had in a long time.

speaking in the The last of the Nintendogs podcast (and live stream), Grubb, who has a strong track record when it comes to industry rumors, had this to say regarding a potential September Nintendo Direct:

“100% there is a Nintendo Direct in September. It’s that simple.”

Both Grubb and co-host Mike Minotti joked that people are “tired of getting burned” by a summer full of Direct rumors, but are confident that we’ll have a Nintendo Direct in September, a prediction that has a good chance of being in the money. . September is usually the month that Nintendo holds a big Direct (with the exception of Partner Showcase in 2020), so seeing one again in 2022 wouldn’t be also big a surprise.

Watch the time-stamped video below to hear what Grubb and Minotti had to say about Direct:

Of course, broad predictions are one thing, but Grubb was quick to provide more details about what will happen at the event. maybe – or indeed could No – to imply. According to “a pretty good source,” the Direct will take place in the week beginning September 12. This would put it right between Labor Day in the US and the Tokyo Games Show, meaning the event could absorb all of the gaming attention during that short window.

Regarding the size of the Direct, it seems that the font was not that precise. Torn between a General (or what we like to call a ‘Fit’ in these parts), a Mini, or a potential Partner Showcase, the presenters say only the date is clear at this point.

Moving on to discuss what we could expect to see in this Direct, the presenters were very clear in their predictions, as Grubb stated the following:

“I think there’s going to be a lot of Zelda in this. I think it’s going to be a Zelda explosion for Nintendo.”

The specifically named couple twilight princess Y Wind Waker HD ports that reach the Switch, in addition to feeding our desire to breath of the wild 2 news as they tease that this could be the event where Nintendo finally reveals the game’s official title. Rumors of Twilight Princess/Wind Waker Switch ports have been going around for a long time, so maybe with BotW2 I wish nearing completion, this might be the perfect time to reveal them in order to keep us Zelda fans properly replenished with content until the next original Switch release.

In other news, Grubb also suggests that Direct could see the announcement of the also been rumored for a long time first metroid remaster, while Minotti hoped that we could get more Advance Wars 1+2: Reboot Camp information during the course of the presentation.

With these two titles joining an already daunting list of possible Zelda news, we think the chances of them everybody of these games will make the Direct a slim and good thing, Grubb has been proven wrong before (remember when he said roller champions was it going to end after season 3? Nope? Well let’s say Ubisoft was fast to close that.)

At the end of the day, this all boils down to a rumor from a ‘pretty good source’, a far cry from any kind of official announcement. We certainly expect Nintendo to continue its September Straight trend this year and, if any of the previous rumors turn out to be true, we’re in for an especially exciting finish to 2022.
