iOS 16 will be compatible with iPhone 8, iPhone X and newer models. Still, not all features will be available for older iPhones. With that in mind, 9to5Mac it brought together all the features that will require at least one iPhone XR and one iPhone XS, when this next operating system becomes available to all users on Monday.
Some iOS 16 features will only be available for iPhones with the A12 Bionic chip or newer, which are iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 12, iPhone 12 ProiPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone SE (3rd generation).
Here are all the features coming to just a few iPhones running iOS 16 later this fall:
Live text on videos: Text is now fully interactive on paused video frames, so you can use features like copy and paste, search, and translate. This feature works in Photos, Quick Look, Safari, and other apps.
Quick Actions in Live Text: Detected data on photos and videos can be processed with a single touch. Track flights or shipments, translate foreign languages and convert currencies.
New languages for Live Text: With iOS 16, Live Text recognizes Japanese, Korean, and Ukrainian text.
Emoji in texts: Preview during the WWDC 2022 keynote, you can insert emoji when sending messages with Siri. Search for images in more applications: With iOS 16, Spotlight uses image information in Messages, Notes, and Files to allow you to search by locations, people, scenes, or even things in images, like text, a dog, and more.

iOS 16 features for iPhone 11 and later
Live Subtitles: Transcripts are automatically generated in real time for users who are deaf or hard of hearing to more easily follow conversations, audio, and video. Requires an iPhone 11, iPad with A12 Bionic chip, or Mac with Apple Silicone. Only available in English (Canada, USA).
iOS 16 features exclusive to iPhone 13 models
iPhone 13 models also have exclusive features with iOS 16. Here they are:

iPhones that support the new battery icon with iOS 16
While some of the features require a specific iPhone due to processor capabilities, Apple has added a new battery icon with iOS 16 beta 5. Only certain devices will get this new feature:

- iPhone 1212 Pro and 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max
- iPhone XS and XS Max
These are all features exclusive to newer iPhone models. As you can see, many of them work for iPhone XR and iPhone XS users, while only some camera improvements are exclusive to iPhone 13 users.
